Colonia del Sacramento is an old Portuguese city founded in 1680 that, due to its strategic location off the coast of Buenos Aires dominated by the Spanish crown, was in territorial dispute until 1777. This discord was finally concluded with the signing of the Treaty of San Ildefonso, and was handed to the Spanish. Come and appreciate the architectural beauty of this town composed by the different but equally beautiful Portuguese and Spanish styles, which allowed Colonia to be declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
