Caiçara is the name given to the current inhabitants of the Atlantic coast, who are considered part of a network of islands, beaches, coasts, forests and towns, which form part of a particular way of life. So to take the Caiçara Cultural Tour is a unique opportunity to take a guided tour to get to know the culture and the natural environment of the present people of the region around Paraty.
The Caiçara Cultural Tour begins in the morning, traveling 10km in a 4x4 all-terrain vehicle to Playa Grande. Here a boat will be waiting for passengers to sail to Isla do Araújo. Disembark from the boat where the Environmental Monitor will be waiting to show you some of the community’s cultural spaces (church, library, school, and artisans). Then take a guided walk around the island for 50 minutes, stopping at Tapadera Beach for a dip in the quiet waters, an excellent place to take a break. After the cultural tour continue the walk to Prainha beach, where you will pause before following a small path back to Praia Grande, where you can stop to have lunch (optional). From this point, you will return to the mainland by Jabaquara Beach, where you will walk via Fort Hill for the best panoramic views of the area with privileged views of the Historical Centre and Bay of Paraty.

- Children policy: Children up to 5 years old do not pay for the tour. From 6 to 10 they pay 50% of the value and from 11 years on, they pay the total cost of the tour.
- Transfer policy: All tours in Paraty begin from the city of Paraty. If you are in Rio de Janeiro or Angra Dos Reis and want to do one of these activities, you can book a transfer between Rio, Angra and Paraty.
- Special date alert: Please note that this tour has a different price if you are booking on special dates that coincide with Carnival or other significant events across the city.
