This package of two adventurous week takes you through some of Argentinas most beautiful and diverse landscapes in the northern parts of the country, traveling by bus. You’ll start your tour in Argentinas never-sleeping capital city of Buenos Aires, before heading north to the amazing Iguazú Falls on the borders of Brazil and Paraguay.

You’ll continue your Argentina odyssey exploring the colorful landscapes and native cultures around Salta and Jujuy in Argentinas northern desert region. Experience the stunning contrasts and beauty of Argentina, on the North Argentina tour from Tangol – experts in Argentina travel.

Itinerary:


Day 1: Arrival in Argentina
 Buenos Aires

Upon arrival at Argentinas international airport in Buenos Aires you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to spend at your leisure, either relaxing at your hotel, or exploring the city. Ask your Argentina travel specialist about a visit to Recoleta Cemetery, a beautiful historical site surrounded by parks and cafes and a busy arts and crafts market during weekends.

 
Day 2: Exploring the “South American Paris”

After breakfast at your hotel you'll be able to head out and explore Buenos Aires. Our service includes a half day bike or walking tour of the capitals most important buildings and neighborhoods with our local guides, including the city centre where you'll see the Obelisco and the Casa Rosada before continuing on to La Boca, San Telmo, Recoleta and Palermo. At night, you will attend to one of the most traditional Tango Shows in the city, where dinner and Argentinian red wine will be served.


 
Day 3: Delta del Tigre
Around Buenos Aires

This day we will Verdana  visit the northern district of Tigre, where the delta joins the Rio de la Plata. We will visit the market Puerto de Frutos which is a link between the life on the islands and the mainland. It formerly supplied the islands and sold what was produced there as well. It is now a local tourist spot, visited every weekend by the people of Buenos Aires as a place of leisure along the river. We will return late in the afternoon in a 2hs boat ride downtown, with fascinating views of the city from the river.



Day 4: Overnight Bus to Iguazu

Verdana After breakfast you will have some time to walk on your own. In the afternoon you will be transferred to the bus terminal for your bus to Iguazu. 



Day 5: Arrival to Iguazu

Verdana Around midday, you will arrive to Puerto Iguazu. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your comfortable hotel in the town and the rest of the day will be free for you to relax in preparation for a full day of exploring tomorrow. 



Day 6: 
Exploring the falls in Brazil

Upon arrival to the Visitors center, we get on the panoramic buses that begin the tour of the park.

From the first balcony we'll be met by a panoramic view of the Argentinian falls. Then after 950 meters with stunning views over the Iguazu river we will get to the falls on the Brazilian side. 






Day 7: Exploring the falls in Argentina

After breakfast you will be met for your excursion into the Iguazu National Park to spend the day exploring the falls and the surrounding rivers and jungle. The park consists of various trails that take you through the jungle onto wooden walkways, built a few meters above the jungle floor and the waterways. These raised platforms protect the natural habitat of the jungle wildlife which allow some spectacular views.



Day 8: Overnight Bus to Salta
 Iguazu to Tucuman

After breakfast, you will have some time to make some optional activities in the morning, such as a photographic safari for example. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the bus terminal for your bus to Salta (via Tucuman).

 
Day 9: Salta La Linda
Arrival to Salta

In Tucuman you will change the bus to connect to Salta. After your arrival to Salta you'll be met and transferred to your hotel. The city of Salta is often referred to as Salta La Linda (meaning Salta the beautiful) due to its well-preserved colonial architecture and year-round warm climate. In the afternoon you will take a guided city tour visiting Salta's most important buildings and churches.



 Day 10: The Road to the Clouds
Salta to Purmamarca
 

Today you will begin a two day excursion in many of north-western Argentina's geographical highlights. Firstly you'll take the road to the clouds, which follows the route of the famous railway track called The Train to the Clouds up through the Quebrada del Toro to San Antonio de los Cobres high in the mountains. Overnight will take place at Purmamarca in the heart of the Quebrada de Humahuaca.



Day 11: Exploring Northern Argentina
Purmamarca to Salta

After breakfast and a visit to the handicraft market in Purmamarca you'll continue your trip up through the colorful hills of the region, passing through small villages of whitewashed adobe houses and historical churches. In the afternoon you'll arrive at Humahuaca, the largest town between Jujuy and the Bolivian border. Founded in 1591 on the site of a major pre-Hispanic settlement, Humahuaca is a typical Andean colonial town with narrow streets and one storey adobe buildings.



Day 12: Cafayate daytrip
Salta and Cafayate

After breakfast, you'll be met for your full day tour to Cafayate. Heading out of the city to the south, you'll pass through large expanses of tobacco plantations as you head towards the wine producing town of Cafayate. Upon arrival, we will visit a winery with wine tasting included and then we will have lunch there as well. 

We will tour around the city and then you spend some time in the handicraft market. In the afternoon, we'll return to Salta through Las Conchas Gorge, stopping in “Posta de las Cabras”, an inn well known for its goat cheese.



Day 13: Overnight Bus to Buenos Aires
Salta to Buenos Aires 

This morning you'll have some time to walk on your own in Salta. In the afternoon you will be met at your hotel and transferred to the bus terminal in Salta for your return bus to Buenos Aires. 



Day 14: Arrival to Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires 

Upon arrival you'll be welcomed and transferred to your hotel in Buenos Aires.
You will have your afternoon to walk on your own to explore the city.



 Day 15: Buenos Aires at Leisure
 Buenos Aires
 

You will have this day free of activities for making your last minute shopping before departure. You could also take one of the optional activities, such as a one day trip to Uruguay by ferry, visiting the football stadiums of the two biggest teams in Argentina (River Plate and Boca Jrs), or just relaxing on your own at one of the traditional cafes in the city.


Day 16: Leaving Argentina
Buenos Aires
 

 After breakfast at your hotel you'll be met for your transfer to the international airport and your flight back home.
