Itinerary
The Visit to the Campotinto Winery is an obligatory stop during your trip to the Uruguay wine route. It is one of the youngest wineries in Carmelo, but since its inception it stood out thanks to the high quality of its wine and the excellent attention of the people who produce it. This beautiful inn was opened in 2013 and since then was recognized by a British website specializing in wines and spirits, including it in the list of "The 10 hotels for wine lovers", along with with hotels in Italy, France, USA, South Africa, New Zealand and Argentina. In 2015 it opened its doors to the public and its quality and impeccable attention distinguish it as a great reference in this region.
The visit to the Bodega Campotinto begins at 11 am with a presentation of the place and interesting stories about how it all began. Then starts the tasting of Medio y Medio, a wine whose production is based on the mixture of sweet sparkling wine and dry white wine. Among other delicious varieties you will taste a Tannat Reserva, the flagship strain of Uruguay. These tastings are accompanied with delicious snacks and generous varieties of nuts. But the activities are not limited only to the tasting of these incredible award-winning wines. You can also take a walk or bike ride through its splendid vineyards and learn more about the winemaking process. Then you can enjoy a delicious lunch with a tasty menu which evokes Italian Tuscany. It is a different and complete experience that will delight all your senses.
