Discovering Uyuni (5 nights)

The Uyuni salt flat is located in the Andean Altiplano region at 3,656 meters above sea level. During November, the salt flat is home to flamingos that migrate to reproduce, creating a magical landscape full of life and color. Its ecosystem is home to a great variety of birds and cacti as tall as 12 meters.

Day 1: Airport, Salta City

We will be waiting for you at the Salta Airport to transfer you to your accommodation. The rest of the day will be free to explore the surroundings of this typical northern city.

During this first day, you will have:

Day 2: Salta and Humahuaca

We will leave Salta early in the morning, towards the province of Jujuy. On the way we will visit: Leon, Tumbaya, Purmamarca and the hill of the Seven Colors. We will go to Tilcara, where you will hike through the ruins and visit the Uquía Archaeological Museum, with its ancient church. Once in Humahuaca we will visit the handicrafts fair and the monument to Belgrano. This is the end of the first excursion.

During this second day, we will offer you:

Day 3: La Quiaca, Villazón and Uyuni

We will travel by regular bus to the city of La Quiaca. After crossing the border crossing, you will arrive in Villazón and the guide will accompany you to the train station to take the train to Uyuni, where you will arrive at night and where you will stay.

During this third day, we will offer you:

Day 4: The Uyuni Salt Flat

In the morning, we will leave Uyuni by 4X4 vehicle to Colchani, a small town where salt mining and refining is carried out.

You will enter the Salar de Uyuni by hiking through the salt piles and observe how salt blocks are extracted.

• You will visit the handicraft stores, the salt hotels and Incahuasi Island, where you will see the huge cactus and have a splendid panoramic view from the lookout point. On the island, you will have a snack and then hike and continue to Chuvica, where you will spend the night in a local shelter.

During this fourth day, we will offer you:

• Lodging in a lodge with private bathroom.

Day 5: Salar de Uyuni and the Altiplanic Lagoons of Bolivia

After breakfast, we will leave for the Bolivian Altiplanic Lagoons: Cañapa, Hedionda and Ramadita, continuing through the Siloli desert, to see the stone tree.

You will visit the Laguna Colorada, where there are pink flamingos and Andean fauna of great importance, such as the vicuña and the suri or Andean rhea. Here you will spend the night in a basic shelter.

During this day, we will offer you:

Day 6: The Altiplanic Lagoons and San Pedro de Atacama or Uyuni

Very early in the morning, our last tour begins. This time we will go to the Geysers (volcanic fumaroles) and visit the hot springs. 

During the tour to the Geysers, you will be able to see strange rock formations caused by erosion. You will arrive at Laguna Verde, which is characterized by changing color between 11:00 and 12:00 hours. You will be amazed by the impressive view of the Licancabur Volcano and the Cajones border landmark, the boundary between the countries of Bolivia and Chile. 

Afterwards we will return to Uyuni. From there, the tour continues by bus to San Pedro de Atacama, where you will arrive the next day after noon.
