Itinerary
The visit to El Legado Winery is part of the increasingly important Wine Route in Colonia. The El Legado Winery offers tastings of carefully selected wines accompanied by exquisite snacks, lunches and outdoor activities that will make your visit a dream experience. This beautiful boutique winery is located in the town of Carmelo a few kilometers from Colonia del Sacramento. Its creation was originally the product of the dream of Luis Marzuca who at the end of the 60s planted the first vine where the winery is currently located.
Years later, his son, Bernardo Marzuca, along with his wife María Marta Barberis, carry out his father's dream, and in 2007 they gave life to a winery called El Legado (the legacy in English) in honor of the frustrated dream of Luis Marzuca.
The visit to El Legado Winery begins with a tasting of three different wines from the area, complemented with a delicious variety of cheeses and cold meats that your palate will greatly enjoy. Next Bernardo Marzuca himself will take you through the vineyard composed of beautiful landscapes and will share interesting information about the history of this winery and the region. Immediately afterward you will learn about the whole process of making the wines produced in this exquisite winery and you will learn about their exclusive production system (vertical free vine driving) unique in Uruguay.
Lunch (not included in the tour) consists of exquisite varieties of premium meats and delicious grilled vegetables along with free wine, soda or water of your choice. To finish such an exquisite banquet, you can taste their delicious desserts composed of tasty handmade Tannat ice cream. After this, if the weather is sunny you can rest in the pool of the winery.
