Itinerary Guatavita Golden Lake Tour
The Guatavita Golden lake Tour will take you approximately 60km northwest of the city of Bogota to discover the town of Guatavita and the famous Laguna del Cacique Guatavita, located in the neighboring town of Sesquilé. One of the most important natural enclosures of the sacred geography of the Muisca civilization, and one of the most important cultural points of interest in the region, where you can understand the symbolism of the goldsmith civilization that gave birth to the Legend of El Dorado.
This day tour begins with a journey from Bogota across Colombia's lush green mountains to the town of Guatavita. Upon arrival, you will descend to walk through the cobblestone streets that surround the town of white houses and mud roofs.
We will continue the tour visiting the Tominé Reservoir, a body of water that extends through the municipality of Guatavita with a nice view. Then, we will go to the Cacique's preparation house where you will be surprised by the indigenous stories, traditions and preparations.
We will start the ascent to the lagoon by the indigenous road surrounded by forest vegetation and the crater that contains the sacred lagoon, where the mythical Legend of El Dorado originated and traveled the world; a story that throughout history has attracted numerous treasure hunters who never had any luck in their misguided search for fortune and wealth.
