Option 1: 4-day Itinerary

 

Day 1: Santa Marta - Mamey - Camp 1

  • 07:00 AM: Pick up at your accommodation in Santa Marta. We will travel by van or 4x4 for 3 hours to Mamey, where we will start our hike to the Lost City.
  • After lunch in the village, we will start a 4-hour trek to Camp 1: Casa Adan, enjoying lush vegetation and crossing crystal-clear rivers. We will spend the night in hammocks with mosquito nets and enjoy a local dinner.

 

Day 2: Camp 1 - Mutanzi - Camp 3

  • An early breakfast will prepare us for an intense day.
  • We will walk 2 hours to the indigenous village of Mutanzi, where we will learn about the Kogui culture and traditions.
  • After a short rest and lunch in nearby cabins, we will continue for another 4 hours to Camp 3: Mamo Romualdo, crossing the Buritaca River and passing through banana cultivation areas. We will spend the night in hammocks, bunk beds, or tents, and enjoy a local dinner.

 

Day 3: Camp 3 - Lost City - Camp 2

  • An early breakfast prepares us for the ascent to the Lost City. We will follow the river and climb 1200 stone steps to reach the majestic Lost City.
  • We will explore the city for 2 hours, learning about its history, temple, and evolution.
  • Afterwards, we will descend to camp 3 for lunch and relaxation.
  • In the afternoon, we will walk 4 hours to Camp 2: Casa Mumake, where we will spend the night.

 

Day 4: Camp 2 - Mamey - Santa Marta

  • We will have an early breakfast and embark on a 7-hour hike back to Mamey, enjoying the same trails as the first day.
  • Upon arrival in Mamey, we will have time for lunch and to share stories before returning to Santa Marta by van, thus concluding our adventure.

The first 3 days of Program 2 are identical to Program 1. The difference is in days 4 and 5:

Day 5: Camp 1 - Mamey

  • We will have breakfast at the camp and walk 4 hours back to Mamey, where we will have lunch and rest before returning to Santa Marta by van, ending the adventure with drop off at your accommodation.
