Itinerary of the 7 Colors Mountain Tour
Together with Daytours4u explore the fascinating Rainbow Mountain in the Vinicunca region, also known as 7 Colors Mountain. We will discover together the Peruvian Andes and unique glacier peaks in the world.
Tour
This tour to the 7 Colors Mountain from Cusco starts early in the morning. At 3:30 am we will pick you up at your hotel located in the city, and then we will start 3 hours and a half tour.
On the way we will contemplate wonderful and varied landscapes, ranging from wild deserts to the snow-capped peaks that characterize the Andean region, without leaving aside the typical fauna such as herds of alpacas.
We will stop on the route for a hot breakfast, and then, we will start the hike from the village of Chillihuani which is located at 4200 m above sea level. From this point it will be a hike with an ascent of approximately 4 hours.
- On the way you will enjoy breathtaking views of the Andes, glacier peaks, red mountains, rocky hills, llamas and alpacas grazing along the valley. Closer to the top of the mountain, you will see much more of the characteristic Andean wildlife.
- Cusco is one of the few places in the world where you can see vicuñas in the wild. Vicuñas, from the Quechua wik'uña, are considered the Andean camel, belonging to the llama family, but are much smaller, and their wool is valued as some of the most expensive in the world.
The Rainbow Mountain
- When you reach the top of Rainbow Mountain or the Seven Colors Mountain, our guide will give you valuable information about this tourist spot.
- You will have enough time to take pictures, rest, enjoy some hot drinks with the best views that this magical place has to offer.
- You will observe wonderful panoramic views of the valleys and the Ausangate Glacier, the fifth-highest mountain in Peru with a height of 6384 meters above sea level and that integrates the Cordillera Vilcanota.
The end of the trek
After taking some amazing pictures (hopefully of some condors) we start our descent with a 2-hour downhill hike. Then we will meet our chef and enjoy a delicious, freshly prepared lunch.
After lunch, we will visit some local families and learn about their traditions, language and religion.
At the end we will return to Cusco, where we will arrive at approximately 5:00 pm, and we will leave you at your hotel to rest.
