Taquile and Uros Island Day Itinerary from Puno
The adventure begins once you are picked up at your hotel in Puno to take you to the main port and board the boat to the floating islands of Uros.
- On the floating islands of Uros, houses were built and cooking is done in the open air to prevent possible fires. Currently, there are 82 artificial islands, where each one is home to a family, which in turn has its own chief.
After an hour and a half tour, you will continue your trip to Taquile Island, the largest island in Lake Tititaca.
During the navigation, you will be able to observe the Cordillera Real. Once there, our guide will give you a brief explanation of the island, and you will walk around it. During the visit, you will be able to interact with members of the Taquile community and discover what their lifestyle is like. You will realize why the people of Taquile are so cooperative and organized.
- Unlike the other Aymara-speaking Uros islands, on Lake Tititaca the dialect spoken is Quechua.
- You will also be able to admire the handmade garments elaborated with high weaving techniques that make the locals famous.
Then you will go to a local restaurant to enjoy a delicious lunch of traditional food. Finally, you will walk to the main port and return to the port of Puno.
