Itinerary Full day trekking in the Humantay Lagoon

Early in the morning we will pass by your hotel in the city of Cusco and we will start our journey by road until we reach the town of Mollepata.

This town is located 90 kilometers from the city and is part of the provincial district of Antra. Then you can enjoy a delicious local breakfast before continuing the trip.

The starting point: the community of Soraypampa

Soraypampa is located at 3,920 m.a.s.l. and in this community you will begin the trek to the awaited destination, the viewpoint of the Humantay Lagoon.

Before starting the hike uphill, we will give you some important recommendations. You can choose to rent horses if you prefer and pay in cash.

The ascent to the Laguna Humantay viewpoint

This adventure begins with an ascending hike, where you will be able to contemplate beautiful landscapes and admire native plants, as well as the typical fauna of the area, such as horses, sheep, Andean foxes and vizcachas.

When you reach the highest point, 4,200 m.a.s.l., you will be amazed by the dazzling viewpoint of the Humantay Lagoon.

  • The Humantay Lagoon is the product of the melting of two snow-capped mountains, Humantay and Salkantay.

From the highest point you can admire the impressive turquoise color of the lagoon and the dazzling landscape that perfectly combines the mountain with the glacier.

The Humantay Lagoon is part of another important tourist attraction, which belongs to the route to Salkantay. An alternative trek to the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

After contemplating these beautiful Andean landscapes, you will return to the starting point and finish this unforgettable adventure with a delicious local lunch (optional, you can order vegan and gluten free menu in advance). On the way back to Cusco we will drop you off at your hotel to rest.
